Ben Lang - A bit about me
Frequently asked questions
Absolutely. Almost every couple tells me they feel awkward in front of a camera, so you’re definitely not alone. You don’t need to practise posing or know what to do with your hands. I’ll give you a little direction when you need it, add movement to make it feel less stagged, put you in good light and help you feel comfortable. From there, I’ll let the real moments happen.
Most of the time, you’ll be too busy laughing together to remember I’m even taking photos.
My style is candid, natural and documentary focused, with a little editorial edge.I’m there to capture your wedding as it actually feels, from the big emotional moments to the hilarious little things happening in between. Think warm natural colours, good light, real connection and photos that still feel like you years from now.
The goal isn’t to manufacture a wedding that looks good. It’s to photograph your wedding beautifully while you’re actually enjoying it.
Of course. Candid doesn’t mean I’ll leave you standing around wondering what to do.I’ll give you simple prompts and direction when you need it, especially during your couple portraits. Nothing stiff, overly staged or painfully cheesy. I’ll get you moving, laughing and interacting naturally so your photos feel relaxed while still looking bloody good.
It depends on how much of the story you want captured.Four to six hours can work beautifully for elopements, intimate weddings or shorter celebrations. Eight hours is usually the sweet spot for capturing getting ready, the ceremony, family photos, portraits and part of the reception.Ten hours gives the day more room to breathe and is ideal when you want the full story, have multiple locations or want plenty of dance floor chaos photographed. If you’re unsure, tell me what you’re planning and I’ll recommend the coverage that genuinely suits your day.
I’m based in Jervis Bay on the South Coast of NSW and regularly photograph weddings throughout the Shoalhaven, Batemans Bay, Mollymook, Berry, Kangaroo Valley, Kiama, the Southern Highlands, Wollongong and Canberra.I’m also always happy to travel further for a great wedding. Travel within 100 kilometres return from Basin View is included in my packages. For weddings beyond that area, I’ll provide a clear travel quote before you book.
Fill out the contact form on my website. I'll get back to you within 24–48 hours to discuss your day and send package options. A 30% deposit and signed contract will secure your date.
You'll receive your photos and videos through a secure online gallery for high-resolution downloads. We also offer physical prints and albums upon request.
Definitely. You’re not expected to figure out all the photography timings on your own.Once you’ve created your initial wedding timeline, send it through to me and I’ll go over it with you. From there, I can add where your photography coverage will fit and recommend the best times for getting ready photos, family photos, wedding party photos and couple portraits.I’ll consider your ceremony, locations, travel time and the best available light, while making sure the day still has room to breathe and doesn’t feel like one giant photoshoot. One thing I’ll always recommend is setting aside some time during the final hour before sunset for couple photos. You really can’t beat that golden afternoon light.
Absolutely. I offer video chats, phone calls, or in-person catch-ups (if you're nearby) so we can get to know each other and make sure we're a good fit. I also offer pre-wedding mini sessions, which are a great way to hang out, get comfortable in front of the camera, and capture some sweet, low-pressure photos before the big day.
Absolutely. Family photos are important, and they don’t need to become the most stressful part of the day. Before the wedding, I’ll ask you to create a list of names with your essential family combinations. I also recommend choosing a family wrangler who knows everyone and can help gather the right people. My biggest tip is not to go overboard with the list. Prioritise the must have combinations, then we can capture more relaxed photos with everyone else throughout the day. Family photos are usually the part couples get tired of the quickest, so keeping them organised and efficient means we can get you back to the champagne.
Yes. I arrive at every wedding with two professional camera bodies, multiple lenses, lighting equipment and plenty of backup batteries and memory cards. That way, if a piece of equipment decides to have a bad day, your wedding coverage doesn’t miss a beat.
We embrace it.I’ll keep an eye on the weather, help find sheltered locations and adjust the timeline where possible. Rain doesn’t mean bad photos. Moody skies, reflections and a little chaos can create some seriously beautiful moments.Bring a couple of clear umbrellas, trust the process and be prepared to have some fun with it. The weather is part of your story too.
Yes — I offer both! Whether you’re planning a surprise proposal or just want some relaxed, pre-wedding photos together, I’ve got you covered. These sessions are a great way to capture this exciting chapter and get comfy in front of the camera before the big day.
We can shoot somewhere meaningful — on the coast, in the mountains, or wherever feels like “you.”
Head to my contact page to book your session or chat through ideas.
Yes, I offer both wedding photography and videography. However, I don’t personally photograph and film the same wedding at the same time. Both deserve my full attention, and I want to provide the highest possible quality that you deserve. That’s why couples choose either photography or videography rather than having me try to juggle both. My main focus for the 2027 wedding season is photography. If having both photography and videography is non negotiable, let me know. I can reach out to some trusted local videographers and see who may be available to work alongside me on your day.
Every wedding is different, so I don’t place a strict number on your final gallery. The number of images will depend on your coverage, timeline, guest count and everything happening throughout the day. You’ll receive all the best photographs that help tell the complete story, carefully selected and individually edited in my signature style. There’s no holding back the good ones just to hit a particular number.
You’ll receive a collection of sneak peeks within 48 hours, so you’ll have something beautiful to share while the excitement is still fresh.Your complete edited gallery will be delivered within six to eight weeks. Wedding films are generally delivered within eight to ten weeks. These timeframes allow for the busiest parts of the wedding season when my calendar is full. I’ll always aim to finish and deliver everything sooner whenever possible, without rushing the care that goes into editing your photos.
Once you’re ready to lock it in, I’ll send you a booking agreement and an invoice for the 30% deposit.Your wedding date is officially secured once the agreement has been signed and the deposit has been paid. The remaining balance is due 14 days before your wedding.Until those steps are complete, the date remains available to other couples.
